Agency Visit Recap and Reflection: Deloitte Digital

On Wednesday, September 12th, my M School classmates and I were lucky enough to visit Deloitte Digital in Redondo Beach. The session was lead by Gianelle Veis, and Danny Ledger, a Loyola Marymount alumni. As our groups have been strategizing ideas about creative ways to help our community in a needed way, Mr. Ledger and Ms. Veis lead us through a presentation about Deloitte Digital, and helped us all form better ideas of how to be as innovative as possible. With innovation being the primary focus this week, we learned a lot about their chart that they followed very closely, which was created by a partner of the company. This chart is titled "Ten Types of Innovation", and was also included in a book which explains it much further. It seems like all of the employees own this book and use it often, which I thought was very interesting. We learned a lot about their ten types of innovation, including Profit Model, Network, Structure, Process, Product Performance, Product System, Service, Channel, Brand, and Customer Engagement. Deloitte attached many examples to each of these types of innovation, explaining it further, and then tying it in with out own ideas for our group products. After brainstorming for about 30 minutes, we were asked to come up with a quick 60 second elevator pitch of our product and idea, and which types of innovation fit in with it. I thought the elevator pitch was a great way for us to have to think on our feet and boil down the most important parts of our idea. Additionally, writing out and presenting this short pitch really showed our group the great and not-so-great ideas we had for our first idea, and helped us move on with our idea, with a better image of what we are ultimately trying to achieve. These innovation tactics are a great way to get the ball rolling and really figure out what we want our product/company to highlight as a brand, and I will definitely be holding on to this chart and using it in the future. Big thanks to Deloitte Digital for hosting us!
